LA Confidential

American English througout but with clear spoken English. Some slang used. Intermediate speakers and up.

Occasionally a film will come along that just blows you out of the water. You weren't aware of it, so you know little to nothing going in. Ive been lucky to had had this experience with three films: The Shawshank Redemption, Se7en and this one.

LA Confidential is a crime thriller in the true spirit of the term, several characters all integral to the plot, a clear story with a great twist. The acting is flawless, the casting spot on. Getting Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVIto, Kim Basinger (who won the Oscar) Guy Pierce, Russell Crowe and the great David Strathairn and James Cromwell is a feat in itself. And they all bring their A game. But with a script as tight as the one here, you could have the cast offs from the worst B movie you can think of and it would still be great.

It's endlessly quotable, the music is great and the climax one of cinemas great endings.

And best of all? It's a Christmas film, which means I watch it once a year, without fail.

You should, too.
